Blending into the surroundings and enhancing the natural elements around us, while maintaining all the comforts and necessities required to create the perfect safari feel and experience was the aim when designing the Lodge. Large spanning decks are nestled and spread out between majestic acacia tress and the unmistakable “Mogotse” bush resembling the horns of a Gemsbok are customary to the Lodge’s ambience. Unlimited access to the Boteti River either by simply enjoying a refreshing drink and viewing the hippo, crocodiles or abundant birdlife or by a guided Mokoro (Traditional dug out canoe) or Motorboat cruise down the river. Although spread over a massive area the lodge is small and intimate allowing for a personalized experience for all guests and enhanced by skilled staff to attend to your every need.
Delicious traditional Breakfasts and Dinner under the stars is served daily and you will enjoy 1 Mokoro Sunset Safari on the Boteti River (2 Hours) per day - all included!
A variety of additional activities are offered from the Lodge. These will include Mokoro Safaris, scenic flights over the Okavango Delta and full day game drives in Moremi/Khwai area.
The remote location is situated away from all man made distractions allowing one to truly submerge themselves into the splendor of pristine and untouched natural surroundings.
For your convenience, Airport transfers have been included in the rate.
Pick up time may vary according to your schedule.
You will be picked up at Maun airport where you will meet your ranger and guide before leaving on your 20mintue drive the river bank oasis of the boteti tented safari lodge. After a brief check in upon arriving at the lodge you will be explained your safari activities over a refreshing complimentary drink.
You will have some time for a quick lunch or dip in the pool while exploring the Lodges natural surroundings before you will leave on an amazing 2 hour sunset Mokoro safari on the Boteti River. You will have the chance to spot some wildlife with hippos and crocodiles right at the rivers edge while witnessing some of the most amazing bird life in southern africa. Your experienced Mokoro guide will point out several interesting aspects of the river and its wildlife during your Mokoro trip, before stopping on one of the banks for a small refreshment while enjoying the magnificent sunset.
After your Mokoro experience, you will have some time to freshen up and then join us around the open fire and absorb the magnificence around you while enjoying a delicious and traditionally preapred meal and glass of wine while listening to the calls of the night. (different dietary requirements are catered for)
You will overnight in a luxury safari tent.
Waking up at sunrise the first birdcalls of the day, you fill your lungs with the crisp morning air before enjoying some freshly brewed coffee or tea and some home baked biscuits prepared for you and receive a packed breakfast before an early morning departure on your activity of choice between a full day mokoro safari in the okavango dellta including a nature walk or a full day open vehicle safari in the Moremi/Khwai game reserves. (different dietary requirements are catered for)
Full Day Mokoro safari:
Your Mokoro safari will begin as you head out into the many reed channels of the Okavango Delta. Your guide will already have an update of any exciting or special sightings in the area. Most guide are from the Bayei tribal people who many believe to be the first inhabitants of the Okavango Delta, “people of the Delta” so to speak. You will learn about all aspects of this magical inland oasis from the tiniest of creatures, beautiful reed frogs and big 5 mammal species along the water edge. Your guide will also interpret nature to you in a unique manner and show you traditional and medicinal uses of wild plants in the Delta.
A stop will be made on one of the many islands to enjoy your packed lunch before heading on a nature walk discovering more of this abundant ecosystem. After some relaxing time you will continue your adventure exploring more of these unlimited channels and choosing to stop at any other islands as you may please. Returning at 16:00pm.
Moremi/Khwai full day safari:
Moremi is the home to nearly 500 species of bird (from water birds to forest dwellers), and a vast array of other species of wildlife, including buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah, hyaena, jackal, impala, and red lechwe and African Wild dog. Experience this in an open game vehicle specially converted, allowing one to absorb and experience sightings with all of your senses when up and close to wildlife. Your experienced game ranger will teach you about all aspects of nature and interpret wildlife behavior to you in a unique way. He will also receive updates from other rangers in the area determining animal movements. (06:00 am to 16:00pm. Return time could be delayed depending on the roads, time of year and sightings)
A packed lunch will be served in style by your guide at one of the beautiful rest camps along the way.
Picnic snacks and refreshments are included in both safari activities.
After returning from your choice of activity, you will have some time to freshen up where after you will leave on a 2 hour sunset Mokoro safari.(optional)
Your long day on safari will end typically with drinks of your choice on the wooden deck overlooking the sunset over the Boteti river while the coolness of the evening sets in, discussing all the excitement and amazing sightings of the day. Followed by dinner typically under the stars in the open Boma.
You will overnight in a luxury safari tent.
A more relaxed morning after lots of activities and travelling giving you the chance to once again enjoy the lodge and its facailities after a bush breakfast, winding down before a transfer back to Maun airport or your choice of drop off point within Maun.
