  • Day 1

Your guide will pick you up early in the morning, around 5:30 AM, from your pre-arranged location in Maun. After a brief introduction, you’ll head to Nxai Pan National Park for an exhilarating full-day safari.

Nxai Pan is a unique and captivating part of Botswana’s northern Kalahari region. Known for its vast, salt-encrusted pans and striking landscapes, it offers an exceptional safari experience. The park has a rich history of migration and wildlife dynamics. Recently opened migratory routes, made possible after the removal of the buffalo fence, have allowed animals to reclaim ancient paths. This historical shift has enabled them to reach these nutrient-rich salt pans during key times of the year. Among these migrations, the second-largest zebra migration in the world is a spectacular sight to behold. From mid-November until the end of January, thousands of zebras traverse the pans in their seasonal journey, seeking the mineral-rich soils.

In addition to the zebra migration, the region supports a diverse range of species. The Makgadikgadi Pans, of which Nxai Pan is a part, are home to unique wildlife such as springbok, aardwolf, brown hyena, gemsbok, and spring hare, contributing to the area’s ecological richness.

Upon arrival at Nxai Pan, your guide will take you to a scenic spot where you’ll enjoy a continental breakfast. This picturesque location provides a perfect vantage point to appreciate the beauty of the landscape while you savor your morning meal.

Lunch will be served at Baines Baobabs, a remarkable and iconic location within Nxai Pan. Baines Baobabs is renowned for its ancient baobab trees, which were famously sketched by the explorer Thomas Baines in the 19th century. These impressive trees stand as silent sentinels over the landscape, providing a striking backdrop for your meal. The area around Baines Baobabs is often frequented by wildlife, making it a picturesque spot to relax and enjoy your lunch.

In the late afternoon, you’ll head to South Camp water hole for a sundowner. This is a fantastic opportunity to unwind and enjoy a refreshing drink while observing a variety of wildlife as they come to drink and cool off. The water hole is a dynamic scene of interaction among different species, offering a memorable wildlife experience against the backdrop of a stunning sunset.

After these rewarding experiences, you’ll continue your game drive en route to the campsite.

Once at the campsite, a dome camping tent will be set up for you by a camp assistant. While you sit around the campfire, your private chef will prepare a delectable dinner, which will be served under the starry African sky.

In the evening, the Pans become secluded retreats where the tranquility of the surroundings is only interrupted by the occasional call of wildlife. The pristine silence and stillness of the environment offer a unique opportunity to connect with nature in its purest form, especially under some of the clearest night skies on the planet.
